Louie's Nemesis'

Louis has a nemesis', and although it looks harmless, in Louie's mind a moving garden hose is pure devil spawn. Look closely at the hose end, many battles have been fought by Louie.

Go ahead, make my day ..............
Louis going for the throat ..............
The hose fighting back, making a final stand .............

Almost Perfect Pets

Dad is making the post today, so go easy on him.

Dad has made an acquaintance on another forum he frequents, Mary Shafer is an author of a book called "Almost Perfect Pets."

Her book and blog revolve around folks who have adopted Special Needs or Handicapped pets. Some heart touching stories in her book, we are not sure whether to laugh or cry at times, so if you get a chance, go on over and give Mary a visit and a "HOWDY" at:

Thank You Mary !!!

for caring about our "fur-friends" that society has deemed "unacceptable." We need more people in the world like you !!!

We are running late tonight, mom & dad went to the first "obedience class" tonight, we get to go along next week !!! After we are through the "obedience classes," Gus gets to move on to "herding classes."

Our lake levels are again getting high and we haven't hit the rainy season yet, if you look between the trees one can see the 4 posts of the concrete pier we were standing on last weekend.

Louie and Baby Love

This is my sister Baby Love.

Suzanne at Justin Animal Control has adopted her and sees to this constant care. Suzanne is truly a special lady. God only knows that the world could use more people like Suzanne.

Baby Love was born blind and having seizures. Suzanne, her mom, raised money on Baby Love's blog to help get her the surgery needed to put a shunt from her brain to her abdomen. Baby Love no longer has seizures but she is in need of constant care.

As Baby Love is still blind, she needs to be shown her water and food bowl. She needs to be carried outside for potty breaks. As Baby Love is a special needs puppy, she sleeps most of the time. When she does wake up Suzanne says she can turn into "The Red Devil" hopping around and usually running into things.

We want to thank Suzanne and her husband Steve for inviting us out to meet Baby Love. Suzanne and Steve are truly wonderful people and Baby Love is certainly blessed to have them.

We are looking forward to visiting them again !!!

We have posted more pictures of Baby Love on our Flickr site

Update on Rescues

Short update:

Justin Animal Control emailed me today, they have 4 good applicants for Louie's brother Joey, home visits are next, got our fingers crossed that Joey finds his forever home. Thank You Suzanne !!!

Baby Love (Louie's sister) had her MRI on Friday, as suspected it showed fluid on the brain causing "Hydrocephalus". Next step is surgery. If you get a chance, Suzanne has posted photographs of Baby Love getting her MRI at Baby Love's Blog

Last word, Piper was being moved to Operation Kindness the largest "No Kill" shelter in North Texas.

An award from River !!!

We got this award from River !!! We were so excited, mom & dad were going to post it last night, but then we got the disturbing email that Louie's brother needed rescue, and as always, family and Joey's rescue comes first, us dogs have to stick together, especially when FAMILY is involved !!!

Thank You again, River

Hey your taking my spot..

Look at this nervy little Louie. That is my window seat and he has claimed it for his own. First he takes my toys and now my window seat!! Although he did bring a few of his own toys that I like to take from him and play with myself.. I guess we will let him stay.. I sure hope he grows into those big ears of his!!! Woof

Zip

This is Zip, he is a blue heeler in need of rescuing.

Julie's email below:

Here is Zip's story. Zip came to us in Nov. of 06 after he was turned into a local emergency hospital. He has a lame foot that limits his movement from a previous injury that was not ever treated. Apparently, he had been thrown from a moving car when he was 3-4 months old and his rescuers never did anything to fix his foot, but instead turned around and turned him in 3 months later.
Please trot on over to Zip's page and check him out..

Thinking of You

This is me & mom !

Dad takes good care of me, but there is just something about having mom around that makes any problem I have seem small.

Just wanted you to know I am thinking of you mom. I can't wait for you to get home so we can go to the lake and play.

The Sugargliders

Gus,

This is Cousin It,

I have been elected by the Sugar Glider clan (through due process) to represent us in continued negotiations for your protection of us from the dreaded cat clan that wanders the neighborhood.

Let it be known that "we" informed Dad of the cats plan to send you to the pound, and as always, we will continue to leave you little "squirrel cookies" in appreciation of your continuous protection.

All hail Gus !!!

Thank you again,

Cousin It

Gus,

This is Schmed talking, your lucky, sis caught us using the phone to call the pound on you and she banished us from the house.

But remember, she can't watch us all the time and without mom & dad here to protect you, it is only a matter of time before we send you to the pound to become the next rescue puppy ...............
