What is this?
This morning while we were out in the yard with Dad we saw this. Is it a cat? Perhaps another dog? No it has no hair on it's tail.. It was really hissing at me.. Not sure what I did to it but he didn't like it... Dad said it was a Possum. Now what kind of a name is that for a little creature like that?

Whew...watch out!!!!!! Does it have claws? Even so, I think you must have a pretty cool yard if this type of critter is there.

w00fs, my brudder bear plays with those creatures, but unfortunately they dont survive his playing tactics..

Yup. That's a possum all right. They do hiss and have a mouth full of nasty looking teeth. But they are generally so timid that if you got past the hissing and nasty looks, you could very slowly walk up and gently pick it up by the tail. At that point it would play possum and act dead. Then you could drop it in a box and transport it elsewhere safe from the happy trio.

Zoe cornered a possum one time and it literally played possum! It flipped over on its back with it tongue hanging out. We thought it was dead... until it ran away!

I dont think I would like him in my barkyard, we had a family of them and they went away. Our barkyard neighbor has grapes growing though - so we might have one of those soon.. I HOPE, BOL..

We have a lot of opossums here in Florida. They like to eat my cat food. When they get scared they usually freeze...therefore the phrase, "playing possum".

Those type of animals are usually in the road around our house. They are hissy.
Did it play dead on you? TD had one in the yard one night last year and Mom was sure he had killed it. When she went to pick it up on her shovel, it moved and she just about died.
