Gus,

I think your mum should take video clips of you and Louie during your every herding lesson so that she can keep track of how much you have improved over time.

Herding looks like tough work but it seems like you're doing a great job. I would just want to play with those beasts! You must have great discipline... way to go.

Hey thanks for offering me bail money, that is so nice.

Oh, and rocky mentioned the news about Baby Love - that was me - I put it up.

I've not been around for a while so now I need to go check back through all your posts.

Hi Gus & Louie,

Thanks for stopping my blog. I didn't know that Louie and Baby Love are brother and sister. I also see we messed up more than 1 thing. I thought she was 4 years old but if Louie is only 1 year old then we reallu messed up.

I hope that the word is spreading fast and Baby Love can have her surgery soon.

Are you herding sheep or those bipeds? Don't overwork yourself.

Herding looks like a very important and hard job. You definitely deserved your rest in the shade!

SHEEP!!!!!!!!!

Woo Hoo SHEEP!!!!

Sorry I got a little carried away! It's so nice to see other cattle dogs herding SHEEP!

To answer your question. I started off on a leash when i was instinct tested. I stayed in the very small pen for a couple of times-off leash. And then I graduated into a pen that was much larger so I could learn my directions(off leash) but I was still trying to dive in on the sheep-us cattle dogs want to do that!!! I'm now in the open field. I've stopped barking at the sheep, but my first out run of the day is a test for mommy-and she is failing every time because I do a strafing run right near the back end of the sheep-when I know I'm not allowed to do that!!! The rest of the time I'm good and I do wide outruns and flanks! Mom is going to try to stop the first dive in attack-because that's what i do when i'm at a trial-and we get most of the points deduct on our outrun, fetch.....it's a cattle dog thing. We want to be close-not far away like those border collies!!!

We cats don't go outside at my house, because my mom gets scared of losing us. And, we have coyotes running around, so I would make a nice snack for them!
I hope Louie and Jordie can try to get along better....blood is not a good thing!

You found a nice shady place to rest after a hard day's work. It must make you exhausted gathering up all those sheep/cows.
We wish we could join you.
